Apple is reportedly preparing a broad update to its iPad lineup for the first half of 2027. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company is expected to introduce a new iPad Air, a refreshed base iPad and a next-generation iPad Pro.
The iPad Air is expected to receive an OLED display while retaining a 60Hz refresh rate and Touch ID instead of Face ID. Its processor could also move from the M4 to the M5 chip. The 11-inch version may see a price increase, with an estimated starting price of between $799 and $899.
Apple’s entry-level iPad is also due for an update, following its last hardware refresh in early 2025. The new model is expected to use an A19 chip and include 8GB of RAM, a configuration that would enable Apple Intelligence support. It may also include Apple’s N1 chip and C1X modem to improve connectivity. No major changes to the screen or overall design are currently expected, although new color options could be introduced.
The next iPad Pro is reportedly being developed with a focus on sustained performance and cooling. Apple may add a vapor chamber to help manage heat during demanding workloads, while the tablet could receive a new processor based on either the M6 or M7 chip. Current iPad Pro models start at $1,199 for the 11-inch version and $1,499 for the 13-inch model, and the 2027 generation would arrive after roughly three years without a major redesign.
