Netflix has set January 19, 2027, for the global release of the second season of its animated series Blue Eye Samurai. Created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, the Emmy-winning show will return with six episodes. Netflix has also released a date announcement trailer, featuring scenes of sword fights, confrontations and destruction in the series’ stylized 3D animation.

The story picks up after the first season, with Mizu—a mixed-race swordmaster voiced by Maya Erskine—sailing from Japan to London in search of the two remaining men who could be her father.

Brenda Song, Darren Barnet and Masi Oka return as Akemi, Taigen and Ringo. New cast members include Jonathan Pryce as Old Violet, Joel Kim Booster as Priest Ando and Sherry Cola as Kuma.

Amber Noizumi and Michael Green executive produce alongside Erwin Stoff. Jane Wu returns as supervising director and producer, while Blue Spirit handles the animation. The season took three years to make, and the series is set to conclude with a final chapter in 2028.
