Carrie Coon attended the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards in a custom cerulean look by American designer Nellie Partow, using the occasion to highlight her support for emerging designers and the future of American fashion.

The silk organza outfit was designed around a sense of lightness and movement, according to Partow, and took more than 100 hours to make. Coon said she wanted to convey a strong sense of self through the vivid fabric. At 45, she said, she feels more cohesive and ready to take risks.

Coon described her relationship with fashion as still developing, saying she is learning about the industry while discovering designers. She has worn both established names and independent, rising talents, including Partow, whose work she admires for championing distinctive women.

The pair first connected through Coon’s stylist, Alicia Lombardini, while the actress was promoting the independent film His Three Daughters with Elizabeth Olsen and Natasha Lyonne. Coon had previously worn a Partow suit that made an immediate impression.

For Coon, fashion’s appeal goes beyond clothing. She said personal expression can assert individuality and the creative capacity of people working together. She also praised the CFDA’s focus on supporting emerging designers for their artistry and skill, rather than their business connections, and said she was eager to meet young designers at the event.
