Casio’s CT-FS1 is a $400 keyboard featuring Feel Sync, a system designed to help players follow songs without playing out of key. Users upload a track through Casio’s Feel Sync app, and an algorithm analyzes the audio so the keyboard can adapt as the song plays, including through key changes and shifting bridges.
The feature is intended to let beginners focus on rhythm and timing rather than memorizing scales. Feel Sync can also divide the keyboard into two zones, allowing one player to use guided notes while another plays without the assistance. The CT-FS1 can alternatively be used as a standard keyboard, with 61 touch-responsive keys.
The instrument is available in all-black and all-white versions, with the keys matching the body color. It weighs under ten pounds and can run on an AC adapter or AA batteries. Other features include a built-in stereo speaker, Bluetooth and a headphone output.
