Coperni has ceased operations after months of trying to resolve a dispute with Tomorrow Ltd, its exclusive distributor and majority shareholder, the brand’s co-founders and creative directors Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer said in a memo shared with Vogue Business.
The founders said the conflict involved unpaid sums. In June, Vogue Business reported that Coperni had obtained protection from a Paris court to help it continue operating after several months of pending payments from Tomorrow. Coperni also said Tomorrow had terminated its licensing agreement with the brand.
Vaillant and Meyer described Coperni’s eight years as an “extraordinary” collective venture and thanked the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, as well as stores, buyers, press, celebrities, models and others who supported the label.
The founders said they remain optimistic and have ideas for the future, adding that innovation has been central to their work.
