Dick’s Sporting Goods is establishing an AI-focused Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru, India, as it looks to expand its technology capabilities. The hub is intended to support data and AI transformation across the company’s retail operations, which include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Foot Locker and GameChanger.

In a LinkedIn post, Kaushik Das, managing director at DKS Sports in Bengaluru, said he is focused on building an AI-native global capability centre. Dick’s plans to grow the team to 400 technology experts by 2029.

Das joined Dick’s in July. Before that, he held managing director roles at Catalyst Brands India and JCPenney in Bengaluru, and led the integration of JCPenney India’s capabilities into the Catalyst Brands portfolio. He also previously worked in enterprise business intelligence at Target in Bengaluru.

Dick’s already uses AI technology in some areas, including Coach by Dick’s, which supports its digital consumer experience. Bengaluru, often called the Silicon Valley of India, has a technology workforce reported to number more than one million.
