Jack Lowden has responded to reports that he is among the actors being considered to play the next James Bond. The speculation comes as Lowden continues his acclaimed run in Slow Horses and prepares to portray Mr. Darcy in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that several sources said final screen tests for Denis Villeneuve’s Bond film took place in London the previous week. Lowden was subsequently asked about the rumors during an interview with GQ.

“On this… It’s all very flattering,” Lowden said. “It’s nice to be mentioned—for any role—and I’m just not really going to add to the noise.”

He also addressed comments from his Slow Horses costar Gary Oldman, who has said he hopes Lowden gets the part. Lowden described Oldman’s support as particularly meaningful, but added that he does not pay much attention to the speculation. He noted that young male actors are often linked to Bond whenever they appear in a suit rather than playing an eccentric character.

Callum Turner, another actor reportedly under consideration, previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he knew nothing about the casting process. Turner said the rumors had prompted messages from people he had not spoken to in years, despite having no information himself.

Neither Lowden nor Turner has confirmed any involvement in the Bond role.
