Jessica Alba has removed an Instagram post showing her Halloween costume after receiving criticism over its reference to the attack on figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.

Alba shared photos over the weekend wearing a costume based on Kerrigan, including a bloody bandage around her knee. Her friend dressed as Tonya Harding and carried a baseball bat, referencing the 1994 attack on Kerrigan that was planned by Harding’s former husband and ultimately led to Harding being banned.

According to Us Weekly, some followers criticized the costume in the comments, calling it “immature” and questioning why Alba would revisit what they described as a traumatic event that affected people’s careers. The photos remain available on Threads, while Reddit commenters largely viewed the backlash as excessive.

Alba wore the costume to Vas J. Morgan and Michael Braun’s Halloween party, which had a “Hockey Horror” theme inspired by “Off Campus” and “Heated Rivalry.”
