Mariah Carey is welcoming the holiday season as the face of Gucci’s 2026 holiday campaign. The singer attended a private event at the Italian fashion house’s New York store, where she handed out Gucci gifts and a choir performed some of her Christmas hits.

In a conversation with Vogue before the event, Carey reflected on her love of the season and shared some of her traditions. She said she usually starts opening presents in the mid-afternoon because she is not a morning person. Her celebrations also include seeing Santa, taking a sleigh ride and drinking hot chocolate.

Carey said she cooks during the holidays, but not earlier in the year. Around Christmas Eve, she makes linguini with white clam sauce, based on her father’s recipe, as well as red sauce. She also named eggnog as her festive drink of choice.

For the event, Carey wore a black Gucci dress and boots, which she praised for being comfortable and chic. She said she is not much of a holiday-party host, preferring to attend gatherings hosted by someone else. If she were to arrange a holiday dinner, she said Marilyn Monroe and Tupac would be among her guests, alongside her dogs, who would have their own places at the table.

Carey also spoke about “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which features in the campaign video. She said she wrote the song without expecting it to become a major holiday hit and added that she still has to fight for it. Asked about a New Year’s resolution, she said she would wait to see what happens before the year ends.
