Massimo Bonini has signed a licensing agreement with Rabanne to develop and produce the Paris-based fashion house’s women’s footwear collections. The deal adds to the Milan-based company’s work with international fashion brands and comes as it focuses on strengthening its production capabilities.

Founded in Milan in 1989 by Massimo and Sabrina Bonini, the family-run business develops and wholesales footwear and handbags. It operates in more than 85 countries and works with over 1,800 retailers, offering services that include product development, licensing, production, consulting and communications.

Massimo Bonini has also expanded its manufacturing operations through acquisitions in Italy’s Marche footwear district and in Emilia-Romagna. The company has said these investments will help it develop projects for its brand partners. It has also taken an ownership stake in Herbert Levine, supporting the relaunch of the New York shoe label under creative director Trevor Houston.

The Rabanne agreement, the company said, reflects its focus on Italian craftsmanship, innovation and long-term relationships with international fashion houses.
