A new witchy series titled 'Yaga' has been announced with a cast that brings together established television veterans and rising stars. Set in the town of Whittock, the story follows private detective Rapp, played by Noah Reid, who arrives to investigate the disappearance of a wealthy fishery heir. Reid, widely recognized for his role as Patrick on Schitt's Creek and Larry Slater in The Vampire Lestat, portrays a chatty and chaotic investigator. His extensive credits also include Outer Range, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and a Broadway debut in 2022.
Joining the investigation is Sergeant Carson, the local detective assigned to the missing persons case. Played by Clark Backo, Carson is described as no-nonsense at work but with a known penchant for romantasy. Backo has appeared in numerous productions including Letterkenny, The Handmaid's Tale, Station Eleven, and The Changeling on Apple TV+. She also had supporting roles in the film I Want You Back and Venom: The Last Dance.
The series features Carrie-Anne Moss as Dr. Katherine Hargrove, a mysterious professor who teaches a course on bones. Best known for her iconic role as Trinity in the Matrix franchise, Moss has also won an Independent Spirit Award for Memento and appeared in Silent Hill: Revelation. Her recent television work includes playing Jeri Hogarth in Marvel's Netflix series and a Jedi master in The Acolyte.
The central mystery revolves around Henry Park, the billionaire playboy fishery heir who goes missing, played by Hudson Williams. Williams also portrays Logan Casey, Henry's dorky roommate and random doppelgänger who loves overalls. Before his breakout role in Heated Rivalry, Williams appeared in Tracker and Allegiance. Later this year, he is set to appear in the Netflix limited series The Altruists.
Supporting characters include Pam Russell, a student and Logan's on/off girlfriend, played by Ezra Franky. Franky previously starred as Lucy in the Netflix series Untamed and released an album in 2025. Patrick Gilmore joins the cast as Eckert, a detective and coworker to Carson, with prior credits including Travelers, School Spirits, and The Killing.
The local color of Whittock is brought to life by Sheila McCarthy as Olena Yaha, a Ukrainian woman, and Megan Follows as Geena Sandeson, who owns a local diner. McCarthy has won numerous Canadian awards and appeared in Women Talking and The Umbrella Academy. Follows is best known for playing Anne Shirley in the 1980s and 2000s adaptations of Anne of Green Gables and starred in Reign.
Rounding out the cast are Emilija Baranac as Angel, a hotel receptionist where Rapp stays, and Georgia Acken as Lily Sandeson, Geena's teenage daughter. Baranac is known for roles in Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and To All The Boys I Loved Before films. Acken previously played the younger version of Riley Keough's character in Under the Bridge.
