The Oklahoma City Thunder will retire Russell Westbrook’s No. 0 Jersey on February 7. The ceremony will honor the former league MVP, who spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the franchise after being selected in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Westbrook played alongside Kevin Durant as the Thunder became a championship contender, then took on a leading role after Durant left in 2016. The following season, Westbrook averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists, becoming the first player since Oscar Robertson to record a triple-double average across a full campaign and earning league MVP honors. He repeated the feat in each of his final two seasons with Oklahoma City.
Thunder executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti said Westbrook’s impact extended beyond the court, citing his commitment to the community. Westbrook’s No. 0 will be the second number retired in franchise history, joining Nick Collison’s No. 4.
