Palace Skateboards is set to open a new flagship at 8 Poland Street in London on Thursday, November 5. The 250.6-square-metre store draws on the institutional character of the British Museum and the stained-glass windows of British churches, reinterpreted through Palace’s visual style.

Oversized windows display Palace artwork as stained-glass panels, while archive photographs and references to the brand’s first shop are arranged inside as museum-style exhibits. The interior mixes concrete and galvanized steel with light oak panelling, parquet flooring and white walls. P-shaped marble tiles recall those used in the original Palace shop, and unfinished stone plinths, a mirrored skateboard-deck wall and deck displays set into concrete columns serve as display features.

Furniture and fixtures also reference the brand’s history. An oak bench and stool take the shape of the Tri-ferg, Victoria benches nod to Manor Place, and a Rolls-Royce grille from the original store pays tribute to Brewer Street. Palace artwork appears on the entrance door handle, while an LED video wall extends from the ground floor to the first floor.

The Poland Street location joins Palace stores in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Apgujeong, Hongdae, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore. The brand was founded in 2009 by Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis.
