Timbaland has filed a $15 million lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against his former manager Gary Marella and business manager Bruce Seckendorf, accusing them of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and civil theft. The 65-page complaint, brought by the producer legally known as Timothy Mosley, claims the two executives drained his assets and mishandled earnings from his most lucrative recent ventures.
According to the filing, Mosley only learned of the alleged misconduct after a foreclosure notice arrived on his home. The complaint states that Seckendorf had failed to pay the mortgage for 12 months while directing close to $900,000 to himself and to attorneys. It also accuses Seckendorf's firm of racking up millions of dollars in unpaid tax penalties.
Marella is accused of collecting commissions he was not authorized to take, including $1 million drawn from two $5 million payments tied to Verzuz, plus an additional $775,000 from the 2019 sale of Timbaland's catalog to Hipgnosis. The suit further alleges that funds were depleted at Beatclub, the beat marketplace the producer operated jointly with Marella. Both managers were officially terminated in 2025.
Seckendorf and his accounting firm did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Marella strongly disputed the allegations, attributing the producer's financial difficulties to excessive personal overspending and noting that their nine-year management relationship generated roughly $75 million in business.
