Heidi Klum, widely recognized as the queen of Halloween, unveiled her latest transformation at her annual Heidiween party in Manhattan last night. Held at the Cathédrale restaurant to celebrate the event's 25th anniversary, the star appeared as a giant, life-sized replica of her own hand. Klum explained to Vogue that she aimed to take something familiar and twist it into something bizarre, noting that some of the most interesting ideas often stem from ordinary objects we see every day.
The concept for the costume began approximately a year ago, even before her 2025 appearance as Medusa. Although her costume designer, Mike Marino, initially had to focus on the previous year's project, Klum kept the hand idea in mind until it was time to execute it this season. Marino and his ProRenFX team utilized body scans of Klum to create an exact anatomical replica, ensuring realistic details such as veins, muscles, and skin texture were accurately represented.
Logistical challenges required significant engineering to ensure the costume was large enough to make a visual impact while still allowing Klum to move and walk. The design included specific personal touches to make it unmistakably hers, including recreations of her engagement ring, wedding band, and a small tattoo on her finger. Klum emphasized that no detail was overlooked in the process of sculpting and molding the piece.
Klum described Halloween as her favorite time of year because it allows for complete transformation into something totally different. She expressed excitement over the party's growth over the last quarter-century, highlighting her desire for guests to be creative and hold nothing back. Following the event, Klum noted that while removing such complex costumes is an adventure in itself, she immediately begins brainstorming ideas for the following year as soon as November 1 arrives.
