La Rosée, the French dermocosmetics brand founded in 2015, could change ownership as early as the end of the year, according to industry sources. Both strategic buyers and investment funds have reportedly shown interest. The company’s executives were not immediately available to comment.
Pharmacists Coline Bertrand and Manhault de Guilbert launched the brand with five products. Its range has since grown to more than 40 items, including baby and hair care. Refillable deodorant and a sun-care stick are among its bestsellers. Bertrand told WWD in 2024 that the founders set out to make products with a high proportion of ingredients of natural origin, alongside eco-responsible formulations and affordable prices. The range averages 14 euros.
La Rosée has expanded from an initial presence in 300 French pharmacies to more than 9,500. It is available in 13 countries and ranks as the fourth bestselling dermocosmetics brand in French pharmacies. Industry sources put its annual sales above 100 million euros.
International growth includes a launch in Canada earlier this year. The brand is now stocked in more than 540 Shopper Drug Mart stores there and operates a Canadian e-commerce platform. It has also sold in South Korea since 2022, where industry sources say sales exceed 10 million euros.
La Rosée is B Corp certified and uses plant-based materials, including sugarcane, in most of its product packaging. In its latest funding round, Belgian family office FG Bros acquired a 20 percent stake in August 2023.
The potential sale comes amid growing activity in dermocosmetics. Puig took a minority stake in French brand Krème in a funding round led by Iris Ventures in July, while L’Oréal and Beiersdorf have continued to expand their dermocosmetics businesses. Mordor Intelligence estimates that the global dermocosmetics market is worth $54.41 billion and could reach $80.29 billion by 2031, with annual growth of 8.1 percent.
